What a GREAT day.

Well, today ended up being awesome, I'm not going to lie. In fact, I'm going to blog about it (obviously). Sorry there aren't any pictures, and that it's probably not nearly as exciting to you guys, but hey, this kind of day is rare enough to merit its own blog post.

Today was our second doctor's visit, and everything seems to be going great. The baby's little heart was wooshing right along at about 150 bpm, which apparently means we are having a girl, if you listen to the "old wives." But we did get to hear it for the first time, which was awesome, and we set up our next ultrasound to find out if it's a boy or girl and make sure it's developing ok for May 8th, so that's the next big day!

The doctor visit was awesome. Firstly, I really like my doctor (Tandy Olsen, if anyone is looking for one in Logan), and secondly I got loads of great, helpful information from our little questions we had, including a couple things which I will share with you here.

First, I have been having an uncomfortable time sleeping, because you're not supposed to sleep on your back in your second trimester or beyond. Well, I am not loving that (my sides get worn out). So today I asked if there was any angle at which I could prop myself up to make it ok to sleep on my back sometimes. And he was like, "As long as you're not flat on your back, you're fine." Thinking to myself that that sounded too good to be true, I asked if I slept with two pillows propping me up if I would be ok. The miraculous answer: Yes, I would be fine. WAHOO!!! No more leaning tower of babel to sleep on!!! I have been thinking that I basically needed to be sitting up to be ok, so I've had at least 3 if not 4 or 5 pillows I've been leaning on every night when I roll onto my back. Nevermore my friends. I can't wait to go to bed tonight.

Anyway, we also got more, and even BETTER good news. I CAN EAT HOT DOGS! I have no idea how I got it into my head that I couldn't, because you just can't eat an uncooked hot dog (who does that anyway?!). But I have been really wanting some proccessed meat parts (aka hot dogs) lately, and I was pretty sad I couldn't have them. So today I mentioned it to my doctor and asked if I could have bratwurst instead and he kind of laughed and said I could have either one as long as they were cooked. What a beautiful day! So what did I get for lunch? A corn dog from Macey's. It was fab.

I got lab work done today (when they tested last time, they said I had a different blood type than we got told I had at birth, so they needed to retest), which would normally be a bad thing as I usually get stuck at least twice before they get enough blood (last time, it was 3 times and one didn't bruise, one left a two-week bruise, and one left a three-week bruise. It felt amazing.). But not so today. They mercifully only needed one small vial, and while they did have to suck it out of me with a syringe, they got all they needed in one draw! THANK YOU!

And you wouldn't believe this other thing. Justin has been wanting a monitor to hook into his laptop so he can have a little bigger screen. Well, they're kind of expensive, so we hadn't been looking too seriously. Today was the day they cleaned up the lab, and they had one they were going to throw out, which Justin was then able to snag and it works great! What a find!

Also, I have been looking for someone to sing the second part of a duet I'm accompanying on Sunday and couldn't find anyone. Well today, someone just up and volunteered to accompany which left me free to cover the second part. It was very kind and quite the stress reliever.

And THEN, Justin got a 212 in bowling?! What the heck! That is amazing!

So all in all, today rocked. And we're having breakfast for dinner, so it's only going to get better. I can't wait to see what I dream about tonight, since I'm sure it will be incredible.

They told us that heart rate thing as well and our baby had a heart rate in the 160s every time they checked. But we are having a boy! So it's not very accurate. They also say you have more morning sickness if you are having a girl. And I haven't thrown up once so that one fit for my pregnancy. I hope you are feeling well!

Totally popping the bubble of the last person that commented, but every friend I've had that's used the heart rate gauge has gotten exactly what the doctor said she would...

...enjoy your sleep, and invest in a body pillow, they make a world of difference! Aren't pregnancy dreams fun?!

No need for pictures, even though they're fun, reading's good too. Less than a month away and you'll know the gender of your baby! If you have a boy that means you, Ashton, and I will all have boys! Oh, and I think the heart rate thing is totally bogus. We didn't want to know the sex of our baby, and the doctor would say teasingly, "Oh, it sounds like a strong baby boy . . . oh no, it's more like a girl . . . " And then he said that truthfully the heart thing is not that accurate. But who knows!
